Job Title: IT Systems Administrator

Location: West Malling, Kent

Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 depending on experience

Job Type: Permanent

The Role:

They are looking for an IT Systems Administrator to provide a pro-active IT support service and maintain a secure IT environment to the business.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ IT related experience, ideally gained within a multi-site IT infrastructure and knowledge of corporate networks and security. They would also need to have experience in Microsoft server technologies and Office applications. Experience of Cisco, Linux and cloud related products would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and review all software licenses and procure as required
  • Design parameters to reflect the business needs, develop and deploy network and server related technologies to the business
  • Design, implement and maintain cyber security related processes to ensure the integrity of the company IT systems in accordance with General Data Protection regulation (GDPR). Monitor and identify any system compromises and take the appropriate action in line with the company guidelines
  • Research, recommend and implement approved innovative IT solutions to improve business efficiencies
  • Monitor, review scope & upgrade IT equipment and software to test & ensure functionality to meet the needs of the business
  • Induct new starters, train, develop and provide ongoing first and second line support for all employees to be able to utilise the system to meet their role and business requirements
  • Create and maintain individual user accounts providing relevant access to system in accordance with their role installing restrictions on areas outside of their authority limit and maintain the integrity of the system. Revoke access for a change in role and employment leavers
  • Design, implement and review the corporate backup strategy to ensure business continuity
  • Assist in building relationships with vendors
  • Prepare and encrypt sensitive data being sent externally to 3rd parties
  • Maintain and monitor communication systems, including mobile telecommunications and Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) to allow access and ensure the integrity of the system from malware and data leakage protection (DLP)
  • Responsibility for the recycling of equipment in accordance of Waste Electrical and electronic Equipment (WEEE) standards

Competencies & Behaviours

  • People management skills
  • In depth understanding of Microsoft technologies and networking standards
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products including O365, server and networking
  • Ability to manage, prioritise and organise the efficient use of time
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage to budgetary constraints
