Working Hours: 40 hours – Working hours can be varied to meet the needs of our members and guests – primary hours of operation typically span from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday with frequent evening and weekend shifts

Knebworth Golf Club is a vibrant and prestigious club dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for our members. We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis. The Kitchen Assistant will work closely with our kitchen team to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas
  • Assist with food preparation and cooking under the supervision of the management
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and procedures, including those set by the Environmental Health Officer (EHO) in the UK
  • Help with the organisation and storage of food supplies and equipment
  • Wash, peel, chop, and prepare ingredients as directed
  • Perform pot wash duties for both front of house and kitchen equipment, clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishes
  • Dispose of waste properly and maintain a clean and tidy kitchen environment
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries of food and supplies
  • Adhere to food safety standards and practices, including temperature controls and storage procedures
  • Collaborate with other kitchen team to ensure efficient and effective operations

About you:

Education & Experience:

  • Awareness of manual handling techniques
  • Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
  • Experience of kitchen equipment
  • Experience of dangerous equipment such as knives
  • Competent level of English spoken and written
  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including those set by the EHO in the UK
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic food hygiene certificate (desirable)
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods
