Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

Location: St Helens, Merseyside

Salary: £14,910 per annum (inclusive of unsocial hours supplement)

Job type: Part time, Permanent (29.75 hours per week)

Hours: 7.30 am – 5.00 pm, 2 days “on”, 2 days “off”

Closing Date: Friday 30^th April 2021

Job Purpose:

A Kitchen Assistant is required at the company’s Respite Care Home to assist the Cook in providing meals each day by helping with food preparation, maintaining stock levels of food and materials and general cleanliness of the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Cook with food preparation for meals, snacks and buffets.
• Rotation of food supplies and stocks of materials.
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in kitchen and with equipment.
• Maintain a safe, hygienic and efficient working environment in accordance with current food hygiene standards/legislation
• Prepare regeneration ovens for meals-on-wheels service and cook the frozen meals, ready for collection
• Stock control of both home meals and frozen meal deliveries in the walk-in freezer
• Taking breakfast orders from guests, serving breakfast and clearing tables

Skills and Experience:

• Good standard of literacy
• Basic Food Hygiene
• Previous experience in a catering environment
• Previous experience of working with older people would be an advantage
• Must be reliable and punctual
• Efficiency, planning, organising, ability to work under pressure, creativity, speed of thinking, ability to analyse a situation logically
• Adaptable to changes, new systems or people, technology, environment, etc.
• Able to demonstrate empathy and be of a caring nature, showing personal warmth
• Must be patient and understanding and able to remain calm in a crisis
• Good rapport with older people and have a sense of humour
• Good general standard of health with excellent agility/dexterity
