About the role:

Veterinary Pathology Group (VPG) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SYNLAB, the European leader in delivery of high-quality pathology testing and imaging services and operates six veterinary diagnostic laboratories across the UK and Ireland.

Our teams are fundamental to the principle of making a positive difference to veterinary healthcare and you will receive training and coaching to develop your skills and to support you in your working life. In addition, to enable you to broaden your experience and increase the depth of your knowledge, thus improving your career potential, we train our scientific and support staff to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and facilitate the rotation of staff amongst key laboratory areas.

About you:

We are searching for an enthusiastic histology technician to work with the laboratory team at our state of the art laboratory in Bristol. Duties will include trimming in of wet tissues and the routine preparation of histological and immunohistochemical-stained sections of submitted biopsy tissues for diagnostic and research purposes.

A successful applicant will have:

  • BSc or an equivalent qualification, preferably in Biomedical science (desired but not essential).
  • Experience in processing tissue samples for pathologists including grossing, embedding, microtomy and staining techniques (special stains and immunohistochemistry).
  • Meticulous working habits and the ability to work efficiently and to tight deadlines.
  • The ability to work well in a close-knit, friendly team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
