The Role

They are now looking for a full time experienced Legal Secretary to support a busy firm of solicitors. Working within the Private Client Department you will be responsible for providing secretarial and administrative support to fee earners.

Key Requirements:

  • Opening and creating new files.
  • Sorting new probate clients’ paperwork.
  • Creating and updating estate accounts on Excel.
  • Utilising the Firm’s case management system to best effect.
  • Attending will signings with fee earners in or out of the office.
  • Sending and receiving faxes and emails.
  • Preparing letters, memos and bills.
  • Typing complex documents.
  • Copy typing.
  • Filing.
  • Audio typing on digital audio system.
  • Maintaining diaries.
  • Making and taking telephone calls.
  • Seeing clients in reception when necessary.
  • Dealing with new client enquiries.
  • Photocopying.
  • Booking Commissioners for Oaths.
  • Booking house clearances, gardeners etc.
  • Organising postal redirections.
  • Attending deceased’s home with fee earner to gather paperwork and items of value.
  • Where there are no relatives; plan funeral.
  • Covering for other secretaries as required.
  • Any other duties that are reasonably asked of you by the partners.

  • Detail oriented and accurate
  • Trustworthy, discreet and reliable
  • Self-motivated
  • Articulate and a good communicator
  • Good with English (verbally and written)
  • Proficient in using a computer (especially Word, Excel and MS Office)
  • Able to work in a team
  • Calm under pressure
