About the role:
Bexley is the leading London borough for recycling and in 2018 was re-awarded this position for the 13th successive year. As a strategic part of Bexley’s waste collection infrastructure, the Thames Road Waste Transfer Station accepts a wide range of materials from household kerbside collections, street cleansing and local trade and business.
The Driver will drive rear steer 26t Refuse Vehicles for the collection and emptying of resident’s waste bins and boxes, taking full responsibility for the vehicle and crew, ensuring daily completion of work whilst delivering high levels of customer service in the customer-facing role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete all daily vehicle checks and fill out the designated Vehicle Defect sheet at the start and end of each shift.
- Ensure all CCTV cameras are working on your vehicle before commencing your daily work and where fitted, ensure inward-facing cameras face the driver.
- Report all defects including tyre issues to appropriate team member.
- Complete all allocated work within the working day.
- Ensure all paperwork is completed correctly and submitted in a timely manner.
- Maintain regular communication and report any issues/incidents immediately.
- Fill vehicles with fuel and Ad Blue on return to yard at end of the day or on your return journey to your depot.
- Report to the management office at the end of the day for de-briefing and advice on following day’s work.
- Wear the correct PPE required when collecting or delivering to customer and other Countrystyle operated sites.
- Report all accidents and incidents immediately to your Supervisor or the Compliance Team and obtain details as required.
About you:
Essential Requirements:
- LGV Driving: 2 years (required)
- LGV Licence (required)
- Driver CPC (required)
Desirable Requirements:
- Borough Knowledge
- RCV / Rear steer experience
- Working in a municipal environment.
