Job Title: Management Accountant (Maternity Cover)

Based: Solihull

Salary: £32,000 to £35,000 per annum depending on experience

Job Role:

We are looking for a temporary full-time office based Management Accountant working 35 hours per week who will be responsible for overseeing the smooth day do day operational management of the Finance Department under the direction of the Head of Finance. The post holder will be involved in all aspects of the charity from day to day financial management, planning and reporting. This position is a five month contract to cover maternity leave.

This is an extremely exciting time to join SJMT at a time of growth and development in the charity which currently has schemes in Solihull, Shirley, Wolverhampton, Erdington and Kidderminster.

Key responsibilities:

  • To ensure that all monies received including rents and grants are banked immediately and credited to the correct bank account.
  • To ensure the financial ledgers are maintained on a daily basis.
  • To ensure the reconciliation of control accounts on a monthly basis.
  • To ensure the integrity of the Rent Ledger and Sales Ledgers with regard to residents details.
  • To ensure that the rent accounting system is maintained on a timely basis by incorporating starters and leavers (residents) as they arise and to set up new contributions for residents on the Rent Ledger in time for the commencement of each new financial year.
  • To calculate Care fees and issue invoices to residents and Local Authorities.
  • To notify appropriate Local Authorities and Residents of new fees and contributions prior to the commencement of the new financial year.
  • Ensure proper accounting of all monies handled including rents, petty cash, and residents’ funds.
  • To prepare quarterly Managements Accounts, including Income & Expenditure accounts, Balance Sheets and Fixed Assets, comparing actuals with budgets.

General Requirements:

  • A methodical approach with high levels of accuracy
  • Ability to work to targets
  • Qualified AAT, ACCA finalist or CIMA Finalist
  • Experience of using SAGE 50, Pyramid and Omniledger
  • Charity /Housing Association experience of at least 1 year
  • Advanced level Excel, good knowledge of Word and Outlook
  • Enjoys working as part of a team
  • Good problem solver with a curious mind, willing to use own initiative
  • Able to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers at all levels
  • A DBS check will be taken up for the successful candidate
  • Two Covid vaccinations required as work involves carrying out duties in the residential care home from time to time.
