Job Title: Manual Machinist

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Salary: £15.90 per hour

Job Type: 37 hours per week, Full-time, permanent. Overtime paid at £23.85 per hour.

About the Role:

To produce machined parts by setting up and operating Manual Borers, Milling Machines and Lathes as well as carry out secondary machining operations i.e. fitting, deburring and tapping whilst maintaining quality and safety standards. To provide support/ training and mentoring of other operators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting and operating Manual Borers, Milling machines and Lathes
  • Carry out secondary machining operations
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and use inspection equipment
  • Support, training and mentoring of operators
  • Ensure all Health & Safety policies in your area are adhered to at all times and that any actions identified through risk assessment are carried out with 100% compliance.
  • Complete documentation / processes to satisfy Production Control requirements
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement activities in your area.
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested by your Line Manager or a member of the Senior Management team

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Recognised apprenticeship ie. Fitter/Turner, Toolmaker, Milling Machinist, Borer

Desirable:

  • Experience in a subcontract manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement techniques
  • Experience of training operators/apprentices
  • Some experience of a XYZ Protraks would be an advantage
