Gafoor is a dynamic and rapidly growing family-owned business in Preston. They are a key player in their sector operating on a national basis, supplying poultry products to leading blue chip manufacturers.
We’re currently looking for Manufacturing Manager with a strong background in FMCG food manufacturing, specifically poultry/ meat processing. This role has been created as a result of continued growth and further expansion plans for the future.
About the role:
Reporting to the Operations Manager you will oversee the entire operation from live intake through to dispatch of finished and packed poultry products during the late shift. As well as leading your team to success you will also need to think about the bigger picture of your role and balance profitability, efficient manufacturing processes, process improvements, working to KPI’s, GMP standards, food safety and health and safety.
The overall focus of the role will be to ensure the smooth running of the operation ensuring that production schedules are achieved to fulfil customer orders on time and to the correct specification. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the technical team to ensure all quality standards are maintained and also the engineering team to address matters which have the potential to impact productivity.

Key duties:
- Responsible for achieving the shift production schedule and leading an operational team
- Have a “hands-on” approach to all aspects of the department
- Develop internal relationships to inspire confidence in the manufacturing capability and NPD opportunities
- Undertake investigations and root cause analysis in response to complaints or operational issues and initiate corrective actions
- Mentor and develop a team of supervisors
- Work with the HR Manager in relation to onboarding new employees and the proactive management of performance and attendance
- Drive productivity and GMP
- Ensure a safe working environment by ensuring that all standards of the Health and Safety are adhered to within the department
- Support the introduction of new products and changing specifications into the business in line with the customer requirements
- Ensure all quality standards are embedded throughout the business, monitored and achieved
About you:
Essential
- Strong leadership qualities, able to inspire confidence and lead a multi-cultural team.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing people and food manufacturing processes, ideally within the meat or poultry sector although this is not essential.
- A can-do attitude, able to communicate effectively at all levels
- A comprehensive understanding of modern GMP
- Experience operating to BRC standards
- The ability to multi task and balance multiple priorities
- A commercial outlook with excellent numerical capability
- Proficient in MS Office; preferably with knowledge of CRM systems
- Excellent Problem-solving and decision-making
Desirable
- NEBOSH Certificate
- Level 3 Food safety certificate
- HACCP Training
