Job Title: Materials Expeditor

Location: Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire

Salary: £24,500 – £28,000 dependant on experience, pension, life assurance, generous holiday entitlement, clean working environment with free parking.

Job Type: 37 hours per week – 8.00am to 4.30pm Mon-Thurs (30 mins lunch), 7.00am to 12.00pm Fri (no lunchbreak)

The role:

Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Materials Expeditor to join our busy and highly motivated Production Admin team on a permanent contract. Production is the heart of our business, and this role is key in ensuring processes run smoothly.

The work is varied, interesting and demanding and we expect high standards for quality and performance. The role of the Materials Expeditor is to support the Production Department in ensuring all bought-in items, made-in components, products and services are available in our stores department, in line with the planned requirement date. This enables Production to achieve monthly shipping targets, whilst minimising stock holding and managing supply chain risks. The role of the Materials Expeditor is to ensure that supplies and materials are available to maintain the workflow and foster a cost-effective and productive workplace.

Essential

  • Previous experience within a Manufacturing environment
  • Able to work accurately to deadlines
  • Highly analytical with strong admin skills
  • An enthusiastic team player with a can-do/flexible attitude
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills

Desirable

  • Experience of SAP B1 ERP system
  • A willingness to help in other areas of the factory should the demand arise
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of engineering design and production processes

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage open purchase orders to ensure timely delivery, including bought out components, metal bar and laser cut blanks
  • Monitor and chase all sub-contracted Machine Shop items
  • Monitor and manage items sent out for post process treatments
  • Ensure that purchased items are inspected in a timely manner and that suppliers are informed of any rejected items and the appropriate time frame
  • Chase all internal shortages including Machine Shop and Paintshop
  • Update the MRP system so all delivery dates are kept up to date and informing Production management of any issues ahead of time whilst working with suppliers to resolve any problems
  • Maintain seamless communication and coordination with Production, Engineering and Finance as appropriate
