Job Title: Media & Campaigns Officer

Location: Civic Centre, High Street Uxbridge, Middlesex, London, UB8 1UW

Salary: £42,795 – £46,857 per annum

Job Type: Full time, Permanent, 36 hours per week.

What does a Media & Campaigns Officer do at Hillingdon?

The role takes responsibility for answering media enquiries, creating press releases, advising on crisis communications, writing articles for internal and external publications, and conceptualising and producing printed and digital marketing materials for awareness campaigns and projects.

With frequent contact with senior politicians, the role works closely with a variety of council service teams, whilst contributing to various high-profile stories, including issues specific to Hillingdon, such as unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, ULEZ, High Speed Rail 2 and the Heathrow expansion.

Reporting into the Media, Campaigns and Digital Manager, this role is crucial to the success of the Corporate Communications team and takes accountability for communicating externally and internally the wide range of services the council provides.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering a range of successful proactive campaigns
  • Creating communication plans
  • Producing marketing materials (print and digital)
  • Building effective relationships with a wide range of internal/ external stakeholders

About you:

With a keen eye for a story, you’ll have prior experience of identifying media opportunities and protecting organisational reputation, working closely with a media/ public relations team. Evidencing your skills across digital communications, writing e-newsletters, and creating engaging social media content, you’ll have a strong understanding of how media works, including media liaison.

Able to demonstrate examples of writing accurate, consistent and high-quality copy, and editing, you’ll have expert communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to present information to a wide audience at various levels.
