Job Title: Nursery Manager

Location: Fulham

Salary: Up to £38,000 per year (experience dependent)

Job type: Permanent, Full time 40 hours.

Childcare and Learning Ltd have five nursery and pre-school locations across London; looking for individuals to join us at Millie’s House Nursery & Preschool sharing the aim to make each child’s early education experiences positive and meaningful.

Purpose of the Role:

Provide leadership, expert knowledge and skills in developing children to ensure compliance with the Children’s Act and to follow the guidelines laid down by Ofsted/CSIW and the National Standards/EYFS to enable all children to be developed in a safe and secure environment to reach their full potential.

Essential Experience:

  • Level 3 Early Years and Childcare Qualification.
  • 2 years’ post-qualifying experience in a day care setting.
  • Detailed knowledge & experience of Early Years Framework.
  • Knowledge of the EYFS.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels (parents, children, colleagues and senior management).
  • Previous experience of managing a team/individual.
  • To be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Health & Hygiene Certificate.
  • Hold current First Aid certificate.

Desirable Experience:

  • Early Years Foundation Degree.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience of developing a team.
  • A good knowledge of computers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • To contribute to the overall strategy and direction.
  • Set and deliver clear operational objectives and performance standards of the nursery working within company policies and procedures.
  • To maximise and deliver on financial targets directly related to nursery performance.
  • To develop, lead and motivate a team, ensuring performance is maximised.
  • Supervise the organisation of activities to develop all aspects of a child’s individual development in a stimulating environment.
  • Maintain and develop appropriate systems to file children’s developmental records.
  • Provide strong support for the team ensuring safe working practices and staff ratios are effectively deployed to adequately meet the needs of the children.
  • Represent the nursery, internally and externally arranging appointments, organising and hosting parents’ evenings & other special events.
  • Ensure all nursery employee records are accurately updated including holidays, appraisals, payroll, attendance on courses, certificates and references.
  • Coach and develop the team to ensure positive and proactive attitudes.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team/individuals in a timely manner.
  • Forecast recruitment activities to meet current and future business requirements using the appropriate processes.
  • To manage the supervision of the Catering Assistant.
  • Manage upkeep of stock of equipment, furnishing and fittings ensuring the nursery environment is safe, hygienic, tidy and well presented at all times.
  • Manage budgets and liaise with Admin Team for all invoices and collection of fees.
  • Ensure all risks assessments are carried out for all outings, new equipment, chemical products current COSHH.
  • To attend monthly staff meetings and training sessions outside working hours.
