Are you passionate about enhancing the staff experience within a prestigious academic institution? Lancaster University is seeking a curious and collaborative individual to join the People and Organisational Effectiveness (POE) Division in the role of Organisational Developer.

As a pivotal member of the POE Division, you will play a crucial role in elevating the staff experience at Lancaster University. Reporting to the Associate Director of People, Culture and Inclusion, your major duties will include:

  • Talent and Career Management: Plan, design and develop inclusive talent and career management practices for both academic and professional services workforce. Ensure alignment with leadership and management development programmes, performance management, equality, diversity and inclusion, and reward initiatives.
  • Strategic Organisational Development: Conduct comprehensive organisational diagnostics to identify areas for strategic development. Plan and facilitate high-quality solutions and interventions that enhance the staff experience, future-proof the institution and contribute to the institution’s digitalisation agenda.
  • Collaborative solutions: Collaborate with POE colleagues, leaders and managers to co-create tailored organisational development solutions that address cultural changes and practices. Provide internal consultancy to turn strategic objectives into actionable plans, manage transitions and implement effective change.
  • Project Management: Direct lead and project manage OD initiatives within budget, ensuring successful delivery and evaluation of organisational impact.
  • Engagement Strategies: Develop a range of engagement and listening strategies to understand the staff experience throughout the employee lifecycle. Utilise insights to inform future actions and contribute to the continuous improvement of the University’s OD initiatives.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Track record of innovative and impactful interventions to support strategic organisational change and transition
  • Experience of partnering with senior leaders as an internal consultant, designing and delivering comprehensive and meaningful OD interventions
  • Track-record of undertaking organisational analyses to identify areas of strategic development
  • Experience of leading change projects within a complex organisation
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to create professional networks both within and beyond the institution
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills demonstrated through an ability to work independently, prioritise and implement solutions

Desirable:

  • Coaching qualification (level 5 or 7)
  • Evidence of good IT skills and digital literacy to be able to incorporate digital solutions into OD interventions

Requirements:

  • You will have a naturally collaborative style and will flourish in an environment where high quality analysis is the foundation of strategic interventions.
  • You will bring experience of organisational development, talent management and change management, together with strong project management skills and the ability to lead initiatives from conception to successful delivery.
