Job Title: Paralegal

Location: Stourbridge, West Midlands

Salary: Dependent on experience

Job Type: Full Time/Permanent

The Role:

To provide assistance to solicitors with their caseload, and manage their own caseload:

  • Minimum 6 months paralegal experience
  • Attend upon clients
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all practice and client documentation and information
  • Ensure that outstanding client care is given at all times
  • Advise clients on costs
  • Devise a strategy/case plan for cases
  • Assess and advise on the strength of the case
  • Promptly respond to all correspondence/telephone communications
  • Keep abreast of developments in the law and practice
  • Complete all necessary CPD
  • Conduct legal research where necessary
  • Actively progress the client’s matter to conclusion
  • Draft/proof read case papers
  • Obtain information from/instruct experts
  • Brief barristers
  • Attend in conference with barristers
  • Ensure that paper and electronic files are up to date and accurate and files are managed methodically and efficiently
  • Issue proceedings
  • Attend court appointments with or without barristers
  • Attend mediation appointments
  • Negotiate settlements
  • Record time
  • Bill clients
  • Utilise the Firm’s case management system to best effect
  • Comply with the Firm’s various policies and procedures contained in the office manual
  • Attract new clients where possible
  • Any other duties that are reasonably asked of you by the partners.
  • Actively participate in business development

  • Calm under pressure
