Job Title: Payroll and HR Systems Administrator

Location: London/ and remote (Hybrid)

Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent/Full-time

The Role:

SYNLAB is a leading company in clinical diagnostics in Europe and is constantly looking for innovative ways to test and maximize health technologies. We are currently expanding our services and looking for a Payroll and HR Systems Administrator to support the Head of HR Solutions in managing shared HR and payroll systems and solutions across multiple SYNLAB businesses in the UK, ensuring efficient service delivery.

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role that requires a keen attention to detail and an ability to manage large data sets. The successful candidate will support SYNLAB managed service payroll across multiple businesses, undertaking routine payroll tasks on behalf of SYNLAB and providing technical knowledge of payroll and the payroll system to internal HR customers to enable the smooth running of regular and cyclical payroll and pensions activities. The payroll system is MHR/iTrent.

Additionally, the Payroll and HR Systems Specialist will be the UK system expert for our global HR Information System (Oracle Cloud system, SYNLAB Compass), providing support and guidance to internal HR customers on using the system, and undertaking a range of tasks on behalf of the UK business, including system administration and maintenance of staff records as required. The role also involves providing advice and guidance to other internal customers, such as Finance and Informatics, in connection with the system.

Essential Skills and Requirements:

  • Experience managing/administrating an HR Information System (pref Oracle).
  • Has controlled a Payroll System (pref iTrent).
  • To be considered for this role, candidates must have experience in managing a high-volume administration, time-critical payroll service efficiently and effectively underpinned by appropriate Payroll/CIPP qualification.
  • They must also have proven ability to work to timescales and project deadlines, interpret financial data, and undertake all payroll calculations.
  • Additionally, candidates should have excellent practical working knowledge of payroll legislation and its application, including tax, National Insurance, Statutory Sick Pay, Statutory Maternity Pay, and Pension Schemes (including auto-enrollment) and relevant terms and conditions of employment.
  • Business analysis skills that enable effective streamlining of processes and creation of value-add processes are also essential.

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • Knowledge of the technical payroll requirements of the NHS/Agenda for Change terms and conditions and the NHS Pension scheme.
  • Experience in delivering projects, such as systems implementation and upgrades to payroll software, experience of working with iTrent/MHR software, experience of working with SMI Staff.Care software, experience of using PowerBI and/or Business Analysis Certification, and experience of multi-site operations.
