Job Title: Payroll and HR Systems Specialist

Location: London, Hybrid

Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent/Full-time

The role:

SYNLAB is Europe’s undisputed market leader in clinical diagnostics and constantly looks at ground-breaking ways of testing and maximising health technologies.

With the recent expansion to our service, the purpose of the Payroll and HR Systems Specialist is to support the Head of HR Solutions to manage shared HR and payroll systems and solutions across multiple SYNLAB businesses in the UK, facilitating the delivery of efficient services.

The post holder should demonstrate attention to detail and an ability to manage large data sets.

Other duties include:

  • Support SYNLAB managed service payroll across multiple businesses, undertaking routine payroll tasks on behalf of SYNLAB and providing technical knowledge of payroll and the payroll system to internal ‘HR’ customers to enable the smooth running of regular and cyclical payroll and pensions activities. The payroll system is MHR/iTrent
  • To be the UK system expert for our global HR Information System (Oracle Cloud system, SYNLAB Compass)
  • To provide support and guidance to internal HR customers on using the system.
  • To undertake a range of tasks on behalf of the UK business, including system administration and maintenance of staff records as required
  • Provide advice and guidance to other internal customers, such as Finance and Informatics, in connection with the system.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • Experience in managing a high-volume administration, time-critical payroll service efficiently and effectively underpinned by appropriate Payroll/CIPP qualification; proven ability to understand and communicate issues relating to pay
  • Experience in working out manual payroll calculations for checking purposes
  • Benefits administration experience and third-party provision and relationship management
  • Can demonstrate the ability to research, analyse and interpret complex policy and other employment documents related to pay
  • Excellent practical working knowledge of payroll legislation and its application, including tax, National Insurance, Statutory Sick Pay, Statutory Maternity Pay, and Pension Schemes (including auto-enrolment) and relevant terms and conditions of employment
  • Proven ability to work to timescales and project deadlines
  • Skilled in interpreting financial data and undertaking all payroll calculations
  • Demonstration of business analysis skills that enable effective streamlining of processes and creation of value-add processes

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the technical payroll requirements of the NHS/Agenda for Change terms and conditions and the NHS Pension scheme
  • Experience of delivering projects, such as systems implementation and upgrades to payroll software
  • Experience of working with iTrent/MHR software
  • Experience of working with SMI Staff.Care software
  • Experience of using PowerBI and or Business Analysis Certification
  • Experience of multi-site operations
