The Role:

We require an individual to co-ordinate and manage in full the efficient running of the College and Prep School’s Payroll service.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The main responsibility is to ensure the effective and efficient payroll role and proactively contribute to the smooth running of the Accounts Department.

Manage the full payroll service to include, but not limited to:

  • Creation and maintenance of staff accounts within the finance system
  • Preparation of maternity schedules/term time adjustments schedules
  • Process pay increases and or changes
  • Process tax code changes/ student loan deductions
  • Enrol members into the TP and Standard Life Pension schemes and manage the auto enrolment process for opt outs
  • Process timesheets
  • Calculate salaries for part time/ pro rata staff
  • Create salary sacrifice calculations
  • Run payroll routine within finance package
  • Review the monthly payroll data with Deputy Bursar
  • Create monthly supplier payment requests for Pensions/Taxation and attachment of earnings
  • Generate and distribute monthly payslips/P45, annual P60
  • Send payroll bacs file via payment software
  • Submission of RTI and MCR reports
  • Submission of Standard Life pension deductions
  • Generate payroll period end
  • Filing
  • Dealing with payroll queries
  • Reconciliation of monthly payroll reports to nominal ledger
  • Complete annual P11D returns
  • Monthly variance analysis actual results to payroll budget
  • Assist Deputy Bursar with termly payroll salary forecasts
  • Assist Deputy Bursar with the production of the annual payroll budget

About you:

  • Attention to detail, a high level of accuracy and the ability to work independently are required
  • Must have comprehensive understanding of tax and payroll laws

Whilst not in a teaching role, as a Payroll Manager, you will be working on a regular basis in a school in a role which gives opportunity for contact with children. As such, you will be in regulated activity and an enhanced DBS check (which includes children’s barred list information) will be required in advance of appointment.
