Salary: Starting salary – Up to £36k (with planned increments for 2 years)

Location: Chinley (SK23 6BT)

Alphagary, an Orbia business, is looking for a People Officer to be based at our Chinley Sitein Derbyshire.

Job Summary/ Purpose:

The role will focus on the following key areas:

  • Advising and supporting management team with all people-related matters and ER issues
  • Ensuring best-practice and legal compliance is observed within all people related matters at Chinley
  • Membership of Leadership Team (gravitas / trusted partner) – play an active role in Chinley site leadership
  • Leadership of Management Capability programme (design, deliver & evaluate modules)
    • Managing sickness absence
    • Courageous conversations
    • Coaching
    • Effective communications & briefing
    • Investigations
    • Individual Development Plans
  • Managing all people procedures on site:
    • Recruitment
    • Investigations
    • Sickness absence procedure
    • Disciplinary & Grievance
    • Site briefing process
  • Develop new handbook & policies – consultation of employee reps / delivery of briefings / organisation of new contracts
  • Leadership of projects (topics TBC)
  • Work closely with PBP (Melton) to support UK-wide approach and gain TU experience

You will liaise with Legal Advisor & Occupational Health provider when required as well as reporting to our People Business Partner (UK).

This is an opportunity to develop into first “stand alone” HR role whilst working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Person specification:

  • Experience of working within HR role / HR team
  • Competent within basic HR responsibilities:
    • Procedural support ER (Investigations / SAMP / disciplinaries & grievances)
    • Low-level projects (reorganisation / pay review / training plans)
    • Use and maintenance of HRIS
    • Support Performance Management programme (Success Factors or similar)
    • Design and deliver Induction programmes
    • Recruitment for junior positions
    • Design and deliver Employee wellbeing workshops
    • Interface with support – Payroll / Occupational Health / Legal Advisor / Comp & Bens / Recruitment agencies
    • Writing & delivering briefs
  • Limited experience in the above activities is desirable
  • Experience of working within HR team and managing transactions / processes is essential (probably in HR Officer / Advisor capacity) is essential
  • The new People Officer will undergo significant development in first 12 to 24 months
  • They are required to show potential for development into People Business Partner within 24 months
  • Great opportunity to gain first site leadership team responsibility within manufacturing environment
