Location: Flexible working, Office based in Exeter

Salary: Upon application + Bonus + Great Benefits

Job Type: Permanent/Full-time

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday 9-5; flexible, condensed working, part time working, job shares or staggered hours can be considered.

About the Role

We are looking for an individual who can deliver guidance and support in a professional and helpful way.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this role heads up a small team, and you will collectively provide a dedicated HR service to all employees and leaders. You and your team will act as first line assistance to all colleagues, providing advice and support within a regulated environment.

Alongside maintenance and organisation of the HR Systems, payroll and leading the recruitment lifecycle, there will be additional administration duties, meaning, a willingness for a ‘hands on’ approach within our small team is critical.

In addition, this role will provide strategic people project work including culture, benefits, recruitment, organisational design, change management and employee engagement, helping The Exeter to run effectively, responding to the growth of the business.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work as a strategic partner to leaders within the business pro-actively anticipating their people needs
  • Help shape and implement effective people strategies and activities in line with our business strategy
  • Influencing and building relationships with employees and teams
  • Own the employee value proposition life cycle
  • Define, drive and support engagement initiatives ensuring relevant actions are delivered
  • Provide MI and insights to enable effective management of people, cost and risk
  • Gather intelligence and share market trends on best-in-class people engagement
  • Support organisational design and change management, coaching business leaders with effective implementation and strategies for successful change
  • Consider HR best practice in processes that impact other business areas and regulatory requirements
  • Role model and promote The Exeter’s values and behaviours, increase diversity of thought and lead engagement, wellbeing, inclusion, and diversity activities
  • Provide a HR business partnering service, giving positive challenge to leadership teams on all people matters, providing guidance and support when needed
  • Assist with identifying medium-long term resourcing requirements, lead the annual reward activities and work on local attraction and retention approaches
  • Maintaining and refreshing The Exeter’s people policies and procedures

Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience as a strategic people partner in a fast-paced customer focused environment
  • Leadership capability, motivating, influencing, and aspiring others
  • CIPD Qualified (Level 7 HRM) or equivalent
  • Ability to build relationships and be recognised as a trusted advisor
  • Delivering at pace – working with colleagues to deliver effective outcomes
  • Knowledge and understanding of employment issues in line with legislation, conditions of service and HR best practice
  • Commercially focused, with experience of balancing both people and business priorities
  • Up to date subject matter expertise of best practice and employment law
  • Exceptional communication and listening skills
  • Confident to speak with credibility and authority when operating at a senior level
  • Work collaboratively and proactively with all stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Ability to design, develop and implement innovative solutions to real people problems
  • Able to analyse data and make fact-based decisions
  • Able to prioritise workload, manage own time and deal with conflicting priorities
