Job Title: Plant Asset Development Engineer (Electrical)

Salary: £39,000 – £55,000 + Up to 14% bonus on Basic Salary + Extensive Benefits Scheme (listed below)

Location: Shotton, North Wales (10 miles from Chester)

The Role

Reporting to the Works Engineer, the purpose of the role is to support the site in its management of ageing Manufacturing plant and equipment. The job role is essential to deliver life cycle improvement strategies to ensure these assets meet the current and future needs of the business, improving on existing levels of availability and cost of ownership.

This position exists to ensure the engineering function has the capability to leverage emerging technology to drive improvements in plant availability and a reduction in costs. By working closely with the existing asset management teams the role holder will enable optimal asset maintenance strategies to reduce both planned and unplanned downtime, ensuring accurate allocation of resources to meet the needs of the business.

The role holder will ensure we are using the latest technology and techniques to identify the assets and equipment most at risk of failure allowing timely decision making based on cost and risk to operations. The role holder will also act as a future technology champion both within the Colors business and in the relevant forums both internal and external.

Within the role, you will be responsible for:

  • Life cycle development and optimisation of manufacturing plant assets
  • Define and develop strategic long term asset improvement plans
  • Identify and manage asset reliability risks to optimise and improve line performance.
  • Analysis of assets to establish remaining useful life and overall equipment effectiveness
  • Manage and coordinate engineering asset improvement projects
  • Budget control & Project Management
  • Preparation of technical reports and project scope documents
  • Liaison with other departments to ensure any new project implementation aligns with asset development goals
  • Provide engineering support to Plant Engineers and failure reduction programs
  • Analyse and align engineering strategic maintenance plans with long term asset management milestones
  • Maintain continuing professional development (CPD) and ensure up to date knowledge of industry manufacturing trends
  • Identify long term vision and strategy in line with the sites Industry 4.0 goals
  • Responsible for the development of the sites asset health visualization software & database connectivity
  • The job holder will be responsible for leading a multi-disciplined asset development team

The Candidate

The candidate must have a driven passion for improvements & application of new and emerging technologies.

  • Applicants should be Electrically biased and ideally have experience as an Engineer working in a Manufacturing Engineering environment.
  • Must have knowledge of failure reduction process, project management
  • Knowledge of PLC’s, Industrial communication Protocols & databases
  • Ability to lead a team of skilled multi discipline professional engineers in meeting demanding milestones and objectives.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills will be required to fully execute the requirements of the role.
  • Candidate will be educated to a minimum HNC , preferably Degree Level & working towards professional registration with IET
