Job Title: Poultry Processors

Location: Preston

Salary: £9.55 ph and £11.93 ph overtime hours

Job type: Permanent, Full-Time, Monday to Friday

We are excited to be working with a dynamic and rapidly growing family-owned business in Preston to recruit a team of Poultry Processors to help in their busy factory. We are ideally looking for individuals who have worked in a fast-paced meat or food production environment previously but this is not essential as full training will be provided.

These roles have been created as a result of the companies continued growth and further expansion plans for 2022. Gafoor is a key player within their sector operating supplying poultry products to leading blue-chip manufacturers across the UK.

The role:

You will work as part of a team at our site in Preston, Lancashire processing and finishing poultry products to meet each client’s specification. As a Poultry Processor, you will work within several different departments across either a morning shift 6 am till 2 pm or afternoon shift 2 pm till 10 pm. It is absolutely essential to be Health and Safety conscious and ensure adherence to strict food and hygiene regulations.

About you:

The successful candidate will require a flexible approach to their working hours in order to help the department meet customer demand.

Please Note: This role is open to sponsorship from candidates outside of the UK. It is an essential requirement of all oversee applicants that they have passed and have evidence of a B1 IELTS certificate to demonstrate their English language skills.

Key duties:

  • Working on various different production and finishing lines within the factory with the safe and correct use of knives and other equipment
  • Dressing and preparing finished product for packaging
  • Trimming, removal of bone fragments, gristle, surplus fat from finished cuts
  • Using equipment or machinery when required
  • Ensure a safe working environment by ensuring that all standards of Health and Safety are personally adhered to
  • Be familiar with the daily production plan and work as part of the team to set up the line, complete checks and ensure materials are ready to use
  • Completing tasks as efficiently as possible in order to reduce waste and downtime and maximise yields and profits
  • Actively participate in all required company training
  • Adhere to all GMP standards and maintain hygiene standards throughout the working areas

Key Requirements:

  • Good general secondary education
  • Excellent knife skills
  • Previous experience working in a meat processing factory/environment
  • Flexibility to meet daily production targets
  • Consistent approach and strong work ethic
  • A can-do attitude
  • Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team
