Job Title: Power Plant Engineering Staff

Location: Ratcliffe-on-Soar

Salary: £39,200 to £70,039 – Consideration will be given to experience and current salary.

Job type: Full Time. Unlimited hours.

At Ratcliffe, we play a key role in the transition to a low carbon future, generating electricity when there is insufficient renewable power and providing security of supply to the UK. Ratcliffe is the UK’s cleanest ever coal fired power station, fitted with SCR de-NOx technology and Flue Gas Desulphurisation.

We are currently recruiting for a have a range of opportunities within our Mechanical Engineering & Service Support Teams at Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station for experienced engineering staff. The role:

We are looking for people who can bring a flexible, enthusiastic approach, are highly self-motivated, conscientious and can demonstrate ownership of issues through to the implementation of solutions.

Main responsibilities include:

  • You will quickly combine your existing knowledge of power plant engineering with our local site practices to undertake key roles within our engineering teams.
  • You will be responsible for working as a key member of the engineering team in meeting the technical challenges of the delivery of safe and efficient performance and integrity of 500MW coal fired units.
  • You will work as part of an Engineering team:
    • In supporting the performance and maintenance of 500MW unit, efficiently and with statutory compliance.
    • Utilising knowledge and experience to take actions as required to deal with safety, commercial and plant performance.
    • Assisting in analysing and solving engineering and maintenance problems.
    • Plan, manage and execute all agreed works to deliver project objectives and outcomes.
    • Deliver planned shutdowns and routine maintenance of the plant within statutory and company requirements.
    • Enact formal contract roles, including delegated responsibility for the day to day running of our engineering, maintenance and support contracts.
    • Maintaining and enhancing safety within areas of control and actively promote good safety management within the team.

Who we are seeking

Essential

  • Previous experience within a power station Engineering and support team is essential.
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical engineering, or specialist services provision and maintenance practices gained through experience.
  • An extensive understanding of Power Station processes and procedures.
  • An extensive understanding and experience in delivery of health, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and performance management skills that effectively motivate, coach and guide the team members and colleagues.
  • Good interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships with the ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Experience which demonstrates safely managing and appropriately challenging contracting partners on methods, quality and standards of work.
  • Demonstrate an ability to identify and analyse situations by isolating key issues, evaluating relevant data and drawing appropriate conclusions.

Desirable:

  • A qualification (appropriate engineering discipline) at degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Recognised industry qualifications, and training, with relevant experience
  • Hold IOSH working / managing safely or NEBOSH general certificate.
