Great Walstead School is a delightful independent standalone prep school for boys and girls aged 2 ½ to 13 set in 260 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside. We have a proud record of feeding many of the top day and boarding schools in the South East, with a large proportion of leaving students achieving scholarships and awards.

We are looking for a EYFS Teaching Assistant to work in our Nursery and as a Supervisor in our After School Club (The Keep).

The Role:

This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of our excellent team who are very supportive and friendly and always have the children’s happiness at the heart of everything they do. Set in a beautiful rural location our stimulating classrooms and large outdoor learning space provide an exciting environment where children can achieve their full potential. The children spend lots of time, whatever the weather, exploring our extensive grounds which include, woods, fields, streams and our secret garden to enhance learning and create a unique child led curriculum.

We have shifts available from 8:15am to 1:30pm and from 12:00 to 6pm all through the year or Term Time Only. Bank positions are also available if you are unable to commit to a regular shift.

Main Purpose:

  • To support the Room Leaders with the day-to-day running of their Pre School rooms
  • To help maintain a high-quality, stimulating, safe and inclusive environment for all children
  • To help promote the aims and objectives of the Pre School
  • To help promote the high standards of the Pre School

The successful applicant should have:

  • Experience working with children in the 2 to 5 years age group
  • A minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Child Care, or equivalent qualification
  • Sensitivity and caring to the needs of young children
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and strong team player
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm are key to the role.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all of their staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure via the DBS and to register with the update service.
