Job Title: Press & Social Media Manager

Location: Walsall

Salary: £41,881 – £46,845 per annum

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Tens of millions of pounds have been secured to transform Walsall and we need a Press & Social Media Manager to showcase our people, our place and our Council. We have big ambitions to build on our proud industrial heritage and build a borough fit for the future.

We need a story teller who will work closely with the local, regional and national media and to create compelling social media content.

The successful candidate will manage, inspire and develop our proactive, content-focussed approach to communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the media function of Communications Marketing & Brand to deliver both proactive and reactive communication activities.
  • Leading media relations and social media activity to enhance engagement with staff, residents and stakeholders.
  • The development and delivery of media and social media campaigns
  • The robust evaluation of media, social media and web content
  • Working with the Director of Communications Marketing & Brand to manage the Council’s reputation and to effectively manage issues and communication crises.
  • Promoting creative thinking, thought leadership and influence to enable the whole Council to be more creative and innovative in the way that it works.
  • Establishing a fit for purpose, in-house video production unit
  • Providing expert communications counsel to Cabinet members and to the Council’s senior managers.

About you:

We’re looking for an experienced media and communications manager with excellent writing skills. We need an expert in social media and content creation, someone with a passion for storytelling. As our Press & Social Media Manager you will lead our in-house team as we develop a consistent and engaging voice for the Council.
