Job Title: 3rd Line – Cloud Engineer

Location: Yiewsley, West Drayton

Salary: Competitive depending on experience

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Scope and lead the delivery of projects, ensuring compliance with client expectations
  • Design Azure / AWS based solutions fitting the customer brief
  • Being up to date with the latest Azure and Microsoft Cloud solutions and offerings and meeting with potential customers to offer Cloud solutions
  • Maintain a solid understanding of the principles of operation of recent and current releases of core Microsoft products such as Windows and 365
  • Direct experience with public Cloud platforms, primarily Azure and AWS
  • Maintain a solid understanding of the principles of operation of recent and current releases of application and server virtualisation products from Citrix and VMware
  • Demonstrate significant experience of delivering technical projects and solutions in a client-facing environment
  • To consult with the CTO, the customer and the sales team to agree a clear scope of work.
  • Assist service delivery in co-ordinating the delivery and implementation of projects
  • Build and maintain technical relationships with clients to maximise opportunities
  • Propose the most efficient and effective means to solve business and technical problems through the use of best in breed business tools, such as data migrations, virtualisation, upgrades, and new deployments
  • Develop and implement methodologies, tools and scripts to speed-up deployment and integration
  • Full customer engagement around the technical solution including challenging and validating the customer requirements with regards to “needs” versus “wants”
  • Working with the Pre-Sales and Technical functions to support, validate and help deliver client presentations, workshops and responses to technical and business enquiries
  • Ability to identify and mitigate technical risks when changes are made to a client’s environment
  • Ability to investigate, diagnose and troubleshoot a wide variety of problems, with network and computer hardware; device driver, operating system and application server software
  • Provide a point of escalation for technical team in responding to and resolving support calls along with agreed SLA
  • Support of internal IT systems, infrastructure and users
  • Evaluating, testing and recommending of new technologies and systems
  • Provide verbal and written presentations, demonstrations and reports both internally and client facing
  • Gain and maintain professional accreditations through training as defined by line management

The Successful Candidate:

Skills

Essential

  • Azure advanced network, storage and security for example MS Express Route configuration, Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), experience with Azure Sentinel, Azure Security Center
  • At Least AWS foundation
  • Experience with cloud watch or similar monitoring platforms
  • ITIL v4

Desirable

  • Excellent understanding of Azure Services including DRAAS, SaaS, PaaS and IaaS
  • Devops understanding i.e. Delivering Azure Pipelines
  • Azure Automation – PowerShell, CLI etc
  • MDM technologies
  • Azure AD Connect, Azure Active Directory
  • Datto RMM
  • Experience with Active Directory and Active Directory Federation Services

Additional requirements:

  • Able to work well to aggressive and pressurised deadlines
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, including listening, verbal, written and presentation
  • Able to effectively communicate technical issues with technical and non-technical audience
  • Must appreciate importance of standards and need for long term planning
  • Prepared to be hands on (i.e. Practical)
  • Requires analytical ability to troubleshoot and resolve common Server environment problems
  • Mandatory joining of a scheduled 24×7 on-call-rota
