What does a Programme Coordinator Locality do at Hillingdon?

We are offering three full time Programme Coordinator posts working 36 hours per week within the Universal Offer Children and Young People’s Team. Our offer runs throughout the year and across the whole of the borough of Hillingdon. Work patterns include evening shifts, afternoon shifts, weekend shifts, and occasional residential work.

The Universal team works with children and young people to deliver high quality, consistent youth work through Locality based, Detached, Outreach and Accredited programmes across the borough in collaboration with the statutory, community and voluntary sector. Our work is responsive to need, supports aspiration and is offered in safe spaces and places. Our work delivers opportunities that promote personal and social development, encourage children and young people to make informed choices and respect and value difference.

About You:

The successful candidate will oversee the management and development of Locality programs (North, South West, and South East) within the Hillingdon Youth Offer. This role involves coordinating the delivery of programs to empower children, young people, and communities, facilitating progress towards positive social, educational, health, and economic outcomes.

Applicants must embrace a positive, holistic, and empowering approach to service delivery. We seek individuals with proven experience and competence in managing work with children and young people in formal or informal education or community settings.

Qualifications for this role include an excellent understanding of contemporary issues faced by children and young people, along with team management experience. A creative and dynamic approach is crucial, enabling engagement with hard-to-reach and vulnerable groups. A Qualification in Youth Work, Social Care, Education, or equivalent experience is essential. A commitment to learning and supporting children and young people is a prerequisite.

  • Have a track record of managing and leading community groups and individuals
  • Exhibit confidence in planning, delivering, and evaluating group and one-to-one interventions responsive to needs

  • Have the ability to work closely with various organizations
