Job Title: Programme Manager – Local Public Services and Nations & Regions

Location: London – Hybrid

Salary: £32,000 – £42,000 per annum plus benefits

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Role Purpose

The Local Public Services and Nations & Regions Programme play a pivotal role in growing techUK’s footprint across the UK. This role will support programme leads in the delivery of workstream activities (market engagement and thought leadership) and will also have the opportunity to grow new areas of programme activity and help grow and establish relevant partnerships (public sector stakeholders and tech suppliers) across the country.

Nations and Regions Overview

techUK is determined to see the whole of the UK enjoy access to strong digital and technology ecosystems. Our work with our members based across the UK as well as partners and stakeholders in devolved and regional government helps to understand the different strengths and needs of the UK’s diverse tech sector. The Local Digital Capital Index is an important part of this work and how we engage with partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of the of the Local Public Services programme and Nations and Regions activity, working with programme leads to achieve financial targets which includes membership recruitment and retention
  • Implement an engaging programme of events and activities for members and stakeholders. This also includes partnering with regional digital festivals to identify relevant opportunities for techUK
  • Identify and help grow new stakeholders and potential workstreams that will be of value to members
  • Work closely with the programmes members to gather their latest feedback on what future activity could look like to managing relevant working groups and steering boards
  • Implement an engaging programme of events and activities in the delivery of the programme including regional activity, topical and virtual events
  • Undertake project work including research, development of articles and papers, running campaign activities, submissions to government consultations etc.
  • Raise the profile and engagement of the programme’s activities and opportunities through newsletters, social media, regular website content and running campaign weeks
  • Represent techUK at senior stakeholder meetings
  • Write briefings and speeches for techUK senior management on these areas as appropriate
  • Support the effective public affairs engagement across the programme when required including with the devolved nations, mayoral authorities and local government
  • Update website with regular insights, this can be anything from policy updates to market insights
  • Any other duties that may be required to support the wider techUK programme activities and team

Person Specification

Competencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A great team player
  • Ability to identify, propose and negotiate new opportunities for techUK
  • A self-motivated individual with a positive can-do approach who is comfortable working in a high pressure, fast-paced environment with competing demands, and responding to tight deadlines
  • Excellent administrative skills including experience of minute writing
  • Ability to use the tools and technologies techUK provides; including but not limited to Microsoft O365, CRM, mobile, online conferencing platforms and home working software

Essential Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of managing or supporting multiple projects
  • Experience of event organisation
  • Experience of managing relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and comfortable working with senior individuals in industry and within government
  • Strong interest in technology, the tech industry and public sector

Desired Knowledge and Experience

  • An understanding of the UK political structures or policy formulation
  • Experience of working in, or knowledge of the technology and/or IT industry, and the technology landscape of law enforcement, policing and the emergency services
  • Experience responding to public sector consultations

Additional Information:

This is a full-time role based out of techUK’s London offices with flexibility for hybrid working. If a candidate is based in a region outside of London, home-based working can be an option. Given the nature of this role and engagement with nations and regions travel will be required.

The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK prior to the commencement of employment.
