Job Title: Progress Tutor

Location: Wigan

Salary: Up to £27,569 per annum (experience/qualification dependent)

Job type: Full Time. Term time equating to 39 weeks in a year, 38 of which are worked in conjunction with the academic year. The remaining 5 days will be worked at an agreed time. Working hours – Monday – Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm.

St John Rigby College offers a wide range of academic and vocational courses at all levels in a highly supportive and caring environment to approximately 1500 full-time students aged 16-18. The College was last inspected in February 2017 and was judged to be “outstanding” in every category.

The Role:

We are looking for a Progress Tutor to support and monitor students, working with them individually and in groups, to deliver a tutorial programme to help students focus on their learning and study skills, enabling them to make academic progress to achieve their full potential.

You will be responsible for the progress, performance and wellbeing of a caseload of students, taking measures to assist them in exceeding their target grades. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with young people and have the ability to liaise with parents and careers to establish positive relationships with students. You will track and monitor student attendance, achievement and retention, as well as managing safeguarding concerns successfully.
