Job Title: Progression Coach

Location: Walsall

Salary: £22k – £28k per annum

Job Type: Part-time, permanent FTE

Job Outline & Purpose:

  • To manage apprentices and their individual learning programmes, closely monitor and review progress in line with the review timeline (every 10 weeks).
  • Ensure excellent apprentice/student attendance, retention and achievement.
  • To support students to develop their English and maths skills.
  • Work closely with students and staff to prepare & introduce to potential employers and businesses for work experience, jobs, apprenticeships, and further education opportunities.

Training:

  • To ensure that training delivered meets employers needs by keeping them updated with progress and obtain feedback.

Assessment:

  • Obtain feedback from Roofing Skills Coach/Tutor regarding conduct, behaviour and progress in preparation for reviews.
  • To conduct and document reviews with students and ensure SMART targets are set and monitored.
  • Conduct timely one-to-one visits with apprentices in the workplace and support and facilitate progress.
  • Update student support plans as and when required.
  • To assess portfolios and provide regular supportive, developmental feedback.

Attendance/Retention:

  • Ensure that apprentices’ attendance & retention targets are met.

Targets:

  • To achieve targets to meet contractual obligations.

Experience (desirable):

  • Of delivering training to 16 + and adults
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Level 4 Teaching qualification

Essential:

  • Full driving licence with access to a car

Qualifications:

  • English & Maths at Level 2 standard (GCSE)

Abilities:

  • To persuade & influence others and deal with conflict/challenging behaviour
  • Understanding of apprenticeship programmes
  • Have a good understanding of OFSTED & ESFA guidelines
  • To remain positive, with an engaging personality and a can-do attitude
  • Excellent organisation skills – diary management and ability to work on own initiative
  • Competent in the use of IT (training will be provider on Juniper systems)
