Job Title: Quality Inspector

Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire

Salary: £15 per hour

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Working Hours: 36 hrs per week & overtime. Basic hours Mon-Thurs 7.30 – 4.00pm, Fri 7.30 – 11.30am

Holidays: 30 days inc stats, increasing with service to 33 days

Oilgear have been producing hydraulic & electrical control systems within a business that was created in 1921, we are celebrating 100 years in business.

About the role:

Due to our continued growth Oilgear Leeds is currently recruiting for a Quality Inspector to join our expanding business and be part of a dynamic and growing team, supporting the company as the business moves into new market areas, whilst also supporting the existing customer base.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about what they do, has an keen eye for detail and understands the importance of providing quality products and service to our customers. As a Quality Inspector you will also be liaising and visiting our suppliers and work with the procurement and assembly teams.

This position is ideally suited to someone with experience in a similar environment. A flexible approach is a must as is the ability to work well with others. If you have enthusiasm, drive and want to be part of a team we would like to hear from you.

Whilst working on site here in Leeds there is free car parking. The site is conveniently situated approximately 1 mile from the centre with easy transport links to both the city centre and the motorway.

Main duties will include:

  • Inspection of components to ensure compliance before storing away
  • Maintaining calibration of measuring equipment, ensuring all are up to date and records maintained
  • Questioning the nature of the defects while providing future solutions
  • Inspecting materials to ensure consistency and integrity against FAI reports
  • Documenting quality issues, ensuring NCR system is maintained
  • Liaising with internal depts and suppliers
  • Visiting suppliers as required to inspect prior to despatch
  • Creating procedure checklists & improve processes
  • Final Inspection / Product release
  • Complete & maintain all paperwork
  • Completing supplier quality audit to comply with ISO
  • Conforming to company health and safety procedures and policies
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices

About you:

Technical / Job Specific:

  • Ability to analyse quality and performance of products
  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Experience of dimensional analysis, mechanical inspections
  • Experience of using micrometres, gauges, vernier callipers, comparators and air gauging

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Ability to work safely at all times
  • Thorough attention to detail
  • Ability to keep calm and focussed in busy periods
