Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (QS)

Location: London

Salary: £40k – £50k per annum DOE

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

The Company:

BBS Residential Ltd are delighted to be expanding our strong, collaborative team. We are searching for an experienced Quantity Surveyor, who will become an integral part of the organisation.

You would work closely with the relevant Directors, Contracts Managers and external contract administrator, architect, client and specialist subcontractors. The QS is responsible for managing all financial aspects of a project, securing the highest quality and standards, whilst ensuring that each project remains commercially viable.

The Quantity Surveyor’s role:

  • Assisting the project team in the pricing, recording and accounting for variations across multiple projects.
  • Managing the handover from the estimator of financial information.
  • Agreeing package composition, setting and overseeing buying targets.
  • Directing the rebid process/pursuing commercial package negotiations.
  • Preparing and maintaining cash flow forecasts, CVRs, progress report financials.
  • Monitor and control materials and sundries purchase, negotiate rates, terms and place orders for major materials packages.
  • Responsibility for payment schedule, monthly valuations with PQS, monthly valuations with subcontractors and invoice sign-off.
  • Maintaining VO schedule, ensuring prompt agreement with all relevant parties and highlighting risks to the project programme.

What will you bring?

  • Preferably you will have a relevant degree-level qualification and direct QS experience.
  • Strong practical, logical, and methodical approach to thinking and problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of traditional building methods.
  • Proven experience in managing building costs.
  • Experience in working with contractors and negotiating contracts to requirements.
  • Experience in health and safety management.
  • Experience in managing and monitoring a budget and providing required reports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and trades.
  • Knowledge of budget planning and costings.
  • Competent IT skills (including Microsoft Office package).
  • Knowledge of building contracts (including JCT products) and tendering procedures.
  • Experience in creating Bill of Quantities and Schedules of Works.

Candidates with experience or relevant job titles of; Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, Commercial Director will all be considered.
