Job Title: Ramp Training Officer

Location: Stansted and Luton

Salary: £39,000 – £46,000 dependent on skills and experience

Job Type: This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week

Must have the right to live and work in the UK

Must hold a Full UK driving licence

The Role:

This uniformed role is an integral part of the Ramp team. To deliver comprehensive practical and theory Ramp Training at both bases.

Principle Accountabilities

  • To be visible and available on the Ramp at both bases by working as part of the Ramp Team for the majority the working week. This time should be equally divided at Luton and Stansted, 3 days at Stansted and 2 days at Luton one week and vice versa the following week. On these days training and coaching should be provided to all Ramp staff to maintain their skills and high standards
  • Deliver practical and theory Ramp training to new starters and ongoing practical training to existing Ramp staff. This will enable any training gaps, anomalies or risk areas to be easily identified and addressed
  • To coach and support all new Ramp staff for a period of 2 weeks or until they are confident and competent in their role
  • Support and assist the Ramp/Fuel Managers/Supervisors and their respective team when required.
  • To provide monthly statistics of all practical training completed to the Safety Action Group
  • Conduct monthly Ramp Observations at both bases
  • Monitor Ramp staff practical training to ensure that they do not go out of ticket
  • To provide training for any new Ramp equipment that the company may acquire and ensure that user instructions are documented and available in relevant manuals
  • Identify and analyse trends from Ramp staff either whilst working on the Ramp or training.
  • Adhere to and follow any relevant health and safety guidelines when conducting training activities. This includes but is not limited to COSH policies and procedures
  • To continue to update and maintain all Ramp training materials including PowerPoint presentations, test papers, course booklets and on line courses on GAEL Academy
  • Ensure training is delivered using accurate training material of a high standard which is consistent at both bases
  • Ensure training material, delivery and evaluations are consistently reviewed and kept current.
  • Continue to update self within areas of expertise and across the aviation industry. disseminate and communicate knowledge to both colleagues and trainees
  • Assist the Training Manager with any ad hoc training initiatives and plans
  • The role will be dual based at Luton and Stansted.

Working Hours

This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, normally Monday to Friday.

As the Ramp departments at both bases work shifts, there is an expectation that when training is required, flexibility is shown and the successful candidate adapts their hours / working days to conduct training. You are expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business and work demand. This role also requires travel between Harrods Aviation locations.

It is also important to understand that when not training, the individual may be required to provide front line coverage at both bases for ramp staff in times of sickness and annual leave, therefore the successful candidate will be available to change hours and location of work at short notice, cover weekends, bank holidays and work shifts including night shifts.

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of working within a Fuelling / Ramp environment (desirable experience – Business / General Aviation / Airline)
  • Experience of operating in a Ramp environment at a senior level for a minimum of 18 months
  • Excellent communication skills and team work to ensure a good rapport with both Managers and staff
  • Previous experience in all aspects of training highly beneficial
  • Recognised training course / qualification desirable (Train the Trainer, CIPD in Training for example)
  • IT Literacy (Word / Excel)
  • Written and Oral Communication Skills
  • If not first language, English must be spoken / written to a Fluent standard
