Job Title: Residential Childcare Practitioner

Location: Standlake, Oxford

Salary: £28,469 – £34,861 basic (dependent upon experience) plus sleeping-in allowance (an average of an additional £5,000 per year)

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

About the Role:

We’re looking for a Residential Childcare Practitioner to join our ever-growing team here at The Mulberry Bush. In this role, you will play an important part in helping children build healthy relationships, discover the benefits of education, and start to rebuild their lives. Join us in this challenging yet incredibly rewarding role and we’ll look to you to:

  • Plan and provide child-centred cultural, physical, play and recreational activities;
  • Think creatively about – and contribute to – effective care planning;
  • Provide appropriate therapeutic relationships with the children;
  • Develop your understanding of therapeutic childcare practice;
  • Monitor the care and treatment of your assigned children within the household;
  • Sleep-in once a week as well as on a rota at weekends.

As part of the role, you’ll have the opportunity to complete a fully accredited and funded Foundation Degree (FdA) in Therapeutic Work with Children and Young People, run by The Mulberry Bush and validated by the University of the West of England.

About You:

You’ll be working alongside children who are facing extreme challenges in their lives. So you’ll need to be caring, patient and resilient. You also need to have:

  • A good standard of general education;
  • Training or a qualification demonstrating a reasonable ability to write and think clearly;
  • A current, full UK driving licence;
  • The right to live and work in the UK.
