Job Title: Senior Area Building Control Surveyor

Location: East Suffolk Council, Lowestoft

Salary: £37,568 – £41,591 per annum

Job Type: Full Time (37 hrs per week), Permanent

The Role:

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the East Suffolk Council’s Building Control Team as a Senior Building Control Surveyor as part of the Ipswich and East Suffolk Building Control Partnership.

Reporting to a Building Control Team leader, you will be an experienced Building Control professional, committed to delivering and improving the high-quality Building Control Service we pride ourselves on offering.

You will be responsible for the delivery of Building Regulation requirements and related services within a geographic area but will be flexible enough to support other areas as required. Your role will also include administration of demolition and dangerous structure legislation, including out of hours emergency cover, as well as supporting corporate projects.

About you:

You will be a full member of the RICS or MCABE with considerable experience working in a building control area with evidence of a high level of performance. You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as being experienced in plan examination and site inspection relating to Building Regulation applications. A high level of customer care and the ability to develop new business opportunities will be essential to maintain our self-financing service.

The position is based at our Lowestoft offices but could include work across the wider partnership areas of Ipswich and East Suffolk. The Building Control team are fully equipped to work remotely which allows and encourages surveyors to work from home or any other desired location.

The Building Control industry is proactively preparing for positive industry changes in line with the Building Safety Bill amendments, the East Suffolk and Ipswich Building Control partnership welcome the amendments to the Building safety Bill and will support every Building Control surveyor to be the best that they can be.
