Job Title: Senior Electrical Design & Controls Engineer

Location: Scarborough

Salary: 30-40k per year

Job Type: Full Time – Permanent

The Role:

The primary role is to undertake electrical design activities as directed by the Company.

In addition to the primary role, the Senior Design & Controls Engineer will also provide

technical support to the Company.

Duties/Requirements:

  • Generate electrical layout designs to information detailed in the customer and Company’s specified requirements.
  • Undertake design activities within the Company’s laid down design, document issue and control procedures.
  • Produce layout designs on the Company’s 2D AutoCAD and E3 CAD systems.
  • Ensure that full production support documentation is created and issued to the relevant departments.
  • Undertake work on contracts as directed by the Electrical Engineering & Development Manager and /or Head of Manufacturing Operations.
  • Endeavour to meet the timescales laid down on the engineering schedule for completion and issue of information.
  • Provide technical support to other sections and departments of the Company as required.
  • Liaise with the project lead, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to ensure a fit for purpose design is created.
  • In dealings with outside personnel, present the Company in a professional manner so as to enhance the reputation and standing of the Company in the local community and within the industry.
  • Undertake any other tasks, as deemed appropriate, by the Head of Manufacturing Operations.

Qualifications Required

  • A suitable qualification (HND, higher or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Design Engineering is required or extensive experience designing electrical control systems as a minimum for this role.

Experience Required

  • A minimum of 3 years demonstrable experience of AutoCAD software package is required and the use of E3 CAD is a desirable attribute for this role. Microsoft Office including Outlook/Word/Excel
  • Experience using MRPII systems to create BOMs and technical specifications is required
  • Working on the design of Emergency/Standby Power Generators is the primary role with an understanding/appreciation for UPS systems being highly desirable
  • Design knowledge of the following would be highly advantageous
  • Electrical systems design including container and control panel layout
  • Control system design using CoMap/Deepsea and/or Deif controllers
  • Fuel and coolant control system design
  • Fire systems and hazardous area electrical design knowledge
  • 3 phase and single phase systems
  • Gas, Oil & Marine, Power installations
  • Site surveying and detailed schematic knowledge
  • Process control Philosophy and System Architecture design
  • Competence in ATEX directive including complex design/installation procedures
  • DC System design is desirable for work on industrial UPS products
