Job Title: Senior HR Advisor

Location: Cardiff, Wales (hybrid working)

Salary: £30 – 35,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent

About the role:

SYNLAB Drug & Alcohol (D&A) are part of the SYNLAB Group, SYNLAB Laboratory Services and Lextox specialise in providing drug and alcohol testing solutions across the UK.

We have a vacancy at our site in Cardiff, Wales for a Senior HR Advisor. The purpose of the role is:

To work with the HR BP to develop strategies and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders/leaders; supporting organisational effectiveness by developing and implementing solutions aligned to strategy

To provide the full range of comprehensive and generalist professional HR services to all stakeholders including managers, partners and staff with the intention of achieving excellent standards of service quality.

To build and maintain credible and productive relationships by working in partnership with Senior Management Team, Operational Managers, all employees, HR colleagues and staff representatives

Essential Skills and Requirements:

Essential

Graduate membership of the CIPD or higher.

Educated to degree level.

Significant experience of working as an HR Advisor or equivalent including a substantial ER and industrial relations remit

Experience of advising managers on the application of employment law and policies.

Up to date knowledge of employment legislation.

Good working knowledge of running a payroll, undertaking reconciliation of a payroll and progressing staff changes through the payroll

Ability to work unsupervised for most of the time.

Ability to build positive relationships with managers, colleagues and Trade Union representatives.

Ability to understand HR issues arising from operational management issues and advise managers appropriately and persuasively on the action they should take

Committed to the use of good HR practices and able to coach managers on how to apply HRM practices appropriately.

Ability to present information to groups of staff in a confident manner.

High standard of verbal and communication skills and able to generate own correspondence and reports.

Adaptable, flexible and innovative approach to work.

Intermediate standard in use of Microsoft applications and packages.

Desirable

Experience of working in an employee relations role

Experience of advising managers at disciplinary hearing and other formal hearings
