Job Title: Senior HR Advisor

Location: Basildon and Essex area

Salary: £32,000 to £36,750 per annum

Job Type: Permanent/Full-time

Pathology First, a leading clinical diagnostics organisation and a part of SYNLAB, the largest clinical diagnostics organisation in Europe, is seeking a talented and experienced Senior HR Advisor to join the team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our organisation by providing expert HR advice and support to our operations and managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive and generalist HR services to all stakeholders, including managers, partners, and staff, focusing on maintaining excellent service quality standards
  • Foster productive relationships by working collaboratively with the Senior Management Team, Operational Managers, HR colleagues, and staff representatives
  • Support the Senior HR Manager in positively representing the HR department internally and externally, promoting the department’s role and advocating good HR practices
  • Serve as a source of professional expertise and guidance within the HR team, particularly in the absence of the Senior HR Manager, to ensure the delivery of a full range of HR services
  • Undertake specific HR projects in collaboration with the Senior HR Manager as required

Essential Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Graduate membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) or higher
  • Significant experience working as an HR Advisor or in an equivalent role, including substantial exposure to employee relations and industrial relations
  • Proficient in advising managers on the application of employment law and policies
  • Up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation
  • Proven ability to hit the ground running and work independently most of the time
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with managers, colleagues, and Trade Union representatives
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas and advice concisely and persuasively
  • Capability to understand HR issues arising from operational management and provide appropriate advice to managers
  • Committed to utilising good HR practices and capable of coaching managers on their effective implementation
  • Confident in delivering presentations to groups of staff
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work productively as part of a team
  • High verbal and written communication standards, including the ability to generate correspondence and reports
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and an innovative approach to work
  • Intermediate proficiency in using Microsoft applications and packages

Desirable:

  • Experience working in an employee relations role within the NHS environment
  • Familiarity with Agenda for Change terms and conditions of employment
  • Experience working in a unionised environment
  • Experience advising managers in disciplinary hearings and other formal proceedings
