Job Title: Senior HR Manager

Location: Basildon, Essex

Salary: £60,000 to £70,000 per annum plus bonus

Job type: Permanent, Full time

SYNLAB Laboratory Services is part of SYNLAB UK & Ireland, who provide laboratory diagnostic and training services to a diverse range of sectors including healthcare and wellness, sport, travel, corporates and insurer, logistics and family law.

The Role:

We have a unique opportunity for a Senior HR Manager to join our state-of-the-art laboratory in Basildon, Essex. Partnering with the General Manager, the successful candidate will help nurture a people-orientated, high-performance culture emphasising engagement, productivity and quality. The Senior HR Manager will also manage and coach the HR Team.

Other Duties Include:

  • To work with business leaders on providing HR advice, coaching and solutions that support the business in identifying and managing workforce issues and delivering major change programmes.
  • Develop workforce plans that support the local and organisational strategy and agenda, ensuring that the business attracts, retains and develops high-quality people.
  • To support, advise and work directly with the operations team to drive business growth and profitability through employee productivity and satisfaction.
  • Direct the local Human Resources team to deliver a broad range of HR services to managers across the business region. Services include resourcing, employment advice/guidance across people-related issues, occupational health, training, pensions and benefits, HR administration and responsibility for outsourced payroll.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Extensive HR generalist experience with exposure to unionised public (preferably NHS) and private sector environments
  • Experience in leading, developing and delivering a change programme whilst improving employee engagement
  • A track record of operational and strategic HR leadership in a complex organisation
  • Significant capability and evidence to support improvement in recruitment, retention and engagement
  • Technical expertise in employee relations and thorough knowledge of NHS Agenda for Change
  • Proven experience in dealing and negotiating with trades unions
  • Previous experience with TUPE, outsourcing services or mergers and acquisitions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with a professional, positive attitude
  • A collaborative approach with excellent influencing skills
  • Self-motivated, resilient, independent and discrete

Desirable:

  • MCIPD qualified or equivalent
  • Mediation and / or coaching qualifications / experience
  • Trained and experienced in job evaluation and matching.
  • Previous knowledge of NHS Pensions administration
