Job Title: Senior Nursery manager

Location: Sutton Scotney, Winchester

Salary: Up to £37,500 per year (Experience and Bonus Dependent) + Joining Bonus

Job type: Permanent, Full time

Start Date: Within 3 months of accepting the position

Egg Childcare is a small family run business started by Anthony & Briony White in 2010. Our first nursery opened in Sutton Scotney in a converted chapel and was rated outstanding by Ofsted in both 2014 and for a second time in 2020.

The Role:

As a Senior Nursery Manager, you will be in sole charge of our two-time Outstanding Nursery based in Winchester as well as overseeing and supporting the Managers based at our other settings. You will be responsible for training, organising and delegating tasks to the two Deputy Managers based at the nursery whilst ensuring high standards are consistently met by the team.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • You will take full responsibility for all aspects of the nursery.
  • You will ensure that in your planned absence the management of the nursery is met by the Deputy Manager’s and that they are aware of their responsibilities.
  • You will provide support and guidance for the other Nursery Managers during Ofsted inspections.
  • You will promptly and professionally deal with any queries, concerns or complaints from any parents and carers and take action if necessary.
  • You will be the Designated Safeguarding lead for your setting and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for the company.
  • You will work with the Group Manager on updating, changing or implementing new policies.
  • You will report back all information regarding support/guidance given to Managers to the Group Manager through weekly meetings.
  • Ability to independently support and develop staff utilising performance management methods tailored to individuals.
  • Ability to establish, develop & maintain strong, co-operative & appropriate relationships with all staff, parents/carers, suppliers, outside agencies & visitors of Egg Childcare.
  • Ability to always convey a positive & professional image & attitude especially under pressure.
  • Ability to be reflective & self-evaluate and show commitment towards continued professional self-development.
  • Ability to deal effectively with demanding situations and can design and implement interventions.
  • It is expected that you will be both office & room based ensuring that all operational, leadership, care, education & staffing aspects of the nursery are continuously monitored.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum level 3 in relevant childcare qualifications (Level 3 or above).
  • Over 2 years of experience in a Nursery Management role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

  • Level 4 or above in Early Years qualification.
  • Basic food hygiene qualification and/or understanding.
  • Experience managing 2 or more settings.
  • Understanding of Ofsted’s inspection guidelines.
  • SEND Training.
  • First aid training.
