Job Title: Senior Sales person / Sales Manager (office based)

Location: Off Higgins Lane, Burscough

Salary: £40,000 base salary plus bonus and participation in a company profit share scheme.

MGA Controls Ltd has been an established supplier of Valve & Instrumentation solutions and services to industry for over 30 years, supplying major brands such as Baumer, Burkert, IMI Norgren, Buschjost, Herion, Maxseal, Watson Smith, Avco, Rotex Automation, Bifold, Alco and Valmatic into a wide range of industry sectors. In addition, we also have a working relationship with many other different suppliers allowing us to offer our customers complete packaged solutions.

The role:

We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Sales Person with Sales Management potential to work with and to manage our Process Industry Sales team. This includes the Chemical, Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas, Process Manufacturing and Utility sectors as well as OEMs. The role is primarily an office-based role but will require occasional visits to site.

We are looking for a candidate with hands on sales experience but also with the potential to manage other office-based salespersons and to take on the role of Sales manager for the office, reporting to our Sales Director.

The role will require identifying with end user problems and issues within the industry and will require assisting our customers to implement cost effective solutions.

The role will initially carry a personal sales target but the business is looking for someone with sufficient experience and gravitas to be able to take the lead with other sales persons and to support the Sales Director. The successful candidate must be able to contribute in each of the following areas.

The Candidate:

  • Live within a 20 mile commutable distance to the office.
  • Worked in the Process and/or Oil & Gas industry for at least 10 years or more.
  • Will have extensive knowledge of the issues, needs and demands of the Valve & Instrumentation markets within the UK Process manufacturing industry and/or the UK Petrochem industry
  • Will have an extensive network of contacts throughout the Process and /or Petrochem Industries.
  • Demonstrable experience of having worked in a sales or business development environment with a track record of target achievement.
  • A strong background in managing sales would be essential, preferably with some formal sales training and a demonstrable record of success in applying it.

Personal attributes and qualifications

The successful candidate will have a process/petrochemical industry background and will display the following attributes;

  • He/she will be a self-motivated individual with a demonstrable ability to work without direct supervision.
  • A strong desire to succeed and an aptitude and hunger to strive towards target achievement will be essential qualities.
  • Proven ability to manage a sales team.
  • Personable with well-developed interpersonal skills that will allow effective communication with engineering and maintenance staff alike.
  • Should have a solid technical background.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • To promote and sell the Valve & Instrumentation products from the manufacturers for whom MGA Controls are both distributors and agents. (above)
  • To promote and sell valve actuation packages
  • To offer customers a single source of supply for all their Control & Instrumentation requirements.
  • To have a strong technical background in the field of valves and/or instrumentation.
  • To manage a team of technical sales resources to do the same.
  • To manage a team of Account Managers who deal with the day-to-day management of our key accounts.
  • To work with the MD in defining future sales strategy.
  • To be responsible for the close management of the sales process using Salesforce. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a proficiency with pipeline management, accurate sales forecasting, enquiry qualification etc

The successful candidate will be expected to carry both a team and personal sales target based on revenue and margin and will be able to demonstrate having worked in this manner previously.
