Job Title: Shift Manager

Location: Haslingden

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: £13.50ph (£31,000 per year) to £14.75ph (£34,500 per year) dependant on skills and experience

About The Role:

We are looking for an inspiring leader with the ability to lead their shift of machine operatives. The role will support the conversion department manager and technical manager, ensuring that KPI targets are achieved and that the team is trained and confident working independently in their tasks.

Here’s What You Can Expect To Be Doing:

  • You will co-ordinate the production within your team by communicating, providing guidance, instruction and direction.
  • Ensuring that production targets are met within agreed deadlines, making best use of resources and materials.
  • Being responsible for the quality, safety and delivery of the product and safe operation of all equipment within your area.
  • Supporting the Unit Manager in line with department KPIs in relation to Production, Housekeeping, Waste and Health, Safety Quality and Environmental to maintain the BRC accreditation.
  • Conducting investigations for all incidents and accidents involving the production team.
  • Completing the running handovers from shifts to ensure progress updates are reported to the relevant departments in a timely manner.
  • Liaising with relevant departments to report any interruptions to production.
  • Planning and organising labour within your shift to deliver the daily production requirements, actively seeking ways to improve labour utilisation.
  • Management of the team ensuring health & safety practices are adhered to and undertaking attendance, absence and performance management activities.
  • Ensuring the team accurately enters production data on a daily basis.
  • Actively coaching and developing all members of your team.
  • Regularly updating and delivering training to your team.
  • Actively take part in LEAN and Continuous Improvement projects in line with your area of work.
  • Delivering weekly briefings – sharing performance KPIs and any changes in the business.

Your Knowledge, Skills and Experience Include:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience of working in a similar role as shift / section manager or supervisor with experience of working in a fast paced FMCG manufacturing environment (Essential)
  • ILM Level 3 Team leader/Supervisor/Manager (Desirable) Or prepared to work towards
  • IOSH Working Safely – 1-day course (Desirable) Or prepared to work towards
  • IT skills
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge (Desirable) and be passionate about driving improvements.
  • Quality and environmental awareness

When you’ll Be Working:

Shift pattern is 24/7 rotating days, nights and weekends on a 4 week pattern.

Working on average 38.5 hours per week, on average 3.5 days per week.

Working 12 hour shifts.
