Job Title: SIPP and SSAS Administrator

Location: Hybrid working basis in either the Edinburgh or Birmingham office

Salary: Competitive

Punter Southall SIPP are your resource for SIPP and SSAS.

We operate a full and simple Self Invested Pension Plan (SIPP) via a master trust, and we also offer professional trustee services for Small Self-Administered Schemes (SSAS).

Role Overview:

To process all aspect of bespoke SIPP and SSAS administration, in a professional and team orientated manner. Punter Southall SIPP staff must adhere to the FCA’s Fair Treatment of Customers consumer outcomes and Conduct Risk requirements.

Key responsibilities & accountabilities:

  • Assisting the team in providing a quality and efficient service to all clients when processing new business and ongoing servicing
  • Inputting client data into SIPP~Pro or SSAS~Pro when setting up new plans or schemes and maintaining the data throughout the lifetime of the lifecycle
  • Setting up designation bank accounts with Bank of Scotland
  • Crystallising of pension benefits and making pension commencement lump sum and/or income payments
  • Ability to apply the correct tax code to income payments made
  • Recognising the various transitional protections that can apply to a plan and ensuring that the correct LTA is applied
  • Declaring and arrangement settlement of Lifetime Allowance charges via HMRC’s online services
  • Creation of contributions within SIPP~Pro or SSAS~Pro and issuing CPCs when cleared
  • Processing paperwork in relation to transfers in from both defined benefit and money purchase schemes and applying in-specie transfers-in
  • Processing paperwork in relation to cash and in-specie transfers out, ensuring appropriate checks are made of the receiving scheme before assets or cash funds are released
  • Purchasing standard and non-standard assets that are as set within the firm’s permitted investments list
  • Creation of payments using the Bank of Scotland’s iSite and Corporate Online systems
  • Utilising relationships with inter-company and external professional connections, including accountants and financial advisers
  • Liaising with regulators bodies where required, such as HMRC and The Pensions Regulator
  • Dealing with day-to-day administration queries either via post, the telephone, or email, directly with clients or via professional connections
  • Ensure that volume, SIPP~Pro and SSAS~Pro records are up to date with member details and all relevant policy information

  • Ability to provide clear technical support and service in a timely fashion
  • Ability to recognise when to escalate/refer client issues/queries to Principal

  • Ability to follow all procedures and working practices including, but not exclusively, Data Protection and Anti-Money Laundering regulations

Organisation

  • Ability to organise and prioritise your own workloads, ensuring activities are undertaken in accurate and timely manner
  • Assist and support the wider team to manage peaks and troughs of work loads

Training, education & qualifications

  • Strong Mathematical and English skills, evidence by a minimum C grade at GCSE/3 Standard Grade
  • Ideally educated to a minimum of A Level/Higher Standard, or equivalent qualification

Knowledge & Experience

  • Over 5 years of administration experience within the SIPP and/or SSAS industry would be preferable
  • Experience of having worked within an independent trustee or investment management environment an advantage
  • Skills should include:
    • Excel – create spreadsheets, use of basic formulae
    • Word – create and format documents to a high standard
    • Outlook – utilisation of emails
  • Familiarisation of the following systems an advantage:
    • Delta’s SIPP~Pro, SSAS~Pro and DMM
    • Bank of Scotland’s iSite and Corporate Online banking systems
    • Sharepoint
    • Volume by Watermark Technologies
