Job Title: Site Operative
Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
Salary: £10 Per hour
Job type: Full Time – Permanent.
Arena provides temporary event services, designing and delivering complete environments for the most prestigious sporting, commercial and cultural occasions in the global calendar. With over 250 years of experience, we have worked in partnership with several iconic events including: The PGA Tour, Wimbledon, ITV, Kensington Palace, Cheltenham Festival and London 2012, to name just a few.
We are currently looking for experienced Labourers / Marquee Builders to join our growing site crew on a full-time basis within our Arena Structures Division.
Purpose of the job:
Within this role you will assist in erecting and dismantling temporary and permanent structures, in accordance with project specific plans and appropriate safety regulations.
The hours are varied and will involve frequent travel within the UK and occasionally overseas. Site Operatives are guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week with plenty of opportunities for overtime.

Main Responsibilities:
- Adhering to site rules, safe systems of work and company procedures at all times.
- Signing in and out as directed.
- Working with other site crew to set up structure frames as per manufacturers/site managers instructions
- Working with/alongside seating and scaffolding systems
- Carrying out physical labour on site
- Working in a busy construction environment with heavy plant movement
- Working on (if certified) or safely alongside plant equipment such as
- Counterbalance Forklift
- Rough Terrain
- Telehandler
- Scissor Lift
- Cherry Picker
- Under supervision – reading and working from site specific plans and layout drawings
- Loading and unloading of trucks
Successful Candidates will be:
- Experienced in working in construction
- Physically fit and able to work at a fast pace
- Team players
- Willing to commit to overtime and working away from home for prolonged periods of time, hotel and subsidies covered.
- Able to follow instructions
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Qualities:
- Experience building temporary structures / marquees
- Valid CSCS card
- Valid Plant certificates such as telehandler licence, counterbalance forklift licence
- First Aid at Work Certified.
- Awareness of safety procedures and PPE use
Career Progression:
On successful completion of a 6-month probationary period progression is achieved based on a performance and qualification assessment.
