Job Title: Stores Supervisor

Location: Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire

Salary: from £28,000 negotiable dependent on experience and proven capability, 6.51% employer pension contribution, 3 x salary life assurance, generous holiday entitlement, free parking, free PPE and uniform, bike to work scheme (after qualifying period).

Job Type: 37 hours per week

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Stores/Goods-In Supervisor to join our busy Stores team in a hands-on supervisory role. Stores is central to the effective operation of our production system in which Manufacturing Requirements Planning is used to manage material flow from in-house supply departments and external suppliers into Stores and from Stores out to Assembly. We are looking for a committed and experienced Stores professional to lead and develop our Stores operations.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Managing receipt, storage, picking and kitting of components from in-house manufacturing and external suppliers in line with a demanding production schedule
  • Coordinate, manage and monitor the despatch, receipt and locating of components
  • Manage deliveries to and collections from external providers such as heat treatment and screen printing
  • Organise and manage annual and monthly Stock counts
  • Actively seek to reduce out of stock scenarios, identifying errors and eliminating root causes
  • Motivate, organise, and encourage teamwork within the Stores to ensure targets are met or exceeded
  • Liaise with other areas ensuring open and clear communication between departments
  • Organise the recruitment and training of staff, as well as monitoring staff performance and progress
  • Oversee planned maintenance of equipment and vehicle

Essential:

  • Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within a fast-paced, high-volume Goods in/Stores department
  • Experience of picking and kitting
  • A self-motivated, organised leader, displaying accuracy, flexibility and discipline whilst maintaining a productive working environment
  • Proven track record with the use of MRP systems and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills with both internal and external customers and liaising with other areas of the company

Desirable:

  • Experience of working within a fast-paced engineering manufacturer
  • Experience of SAP
  • Evidence of supervisory/management training
  • Experience with managing Health & Safety within a Stores environment
  • Experience of handling high value, delicate components
  • Experience of managing staff involved in delivery and collection of components

Operating at the extreme end of high mix/low volume electro-mechanical manufacturing, we have evolved approaches that have served the business well and now are looking for the successful candidate to drive the identification and implementation of manufacturing best practise tailored to our particular product mix and business needs.

TecQuipment manufactures of over 400 different products in our site in Long Eaton, near Nottingham. We typically complete and ship around 60 sales orders per month, each of which may include multiple products. The products cover a range from simple forces and moments kits through to wind-tunnels and gas turbines so there is tremendous variety and different challenges every day.
