Job Title: Structural Steelwork Senior Connection Designer

Salary: £50,000 – £58,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Location: Lancashire BB4 8BA

Job Type: Full time/Permanent (37 hours per week (unpaid overtime may be required occasionally)

James Killelea & Co Ltd, a leading name in the structural steelwork industry, is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Structural Steelwork Senior Connection Designer to join our team. As a time-served professional, you will be responsible for the connection design of main primary and secondary members associated with the various types of steel framed structures that our company undertakes, including multi-storey car parks, portal sheds, offices, apartment blocks, hotels, schools, colleges, and healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and detail structural steelwork connections using dedicated software, such as Tekla Designer, Tekla Connections, Tekla Structures, IDEA Statica, Tekla TEDDS, and Autodesk Robot.
  • Develop temporary works designs where required.
  • Engage in value engineering and design development to achieve economical solutions.
  • Liaise with clients and the drawing office team to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Attend design meetings and provide expert input.
  • Mentor and guide junior designers within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive experience as a Structural Steelwork Connection Designer in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in software such as Tekla Designer, Tekla Connections, Tekla Structures, IDEA Statica, Tekla TEDDS, and Autodesk Robot.
  • Professional qualifications in a relevant field are required, and membership in professional organizations is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven track record of mentoring and developing junior team members.
  • Experience in liaising with clients and attending design meetings.
  • Willingness to occasionally visit clients and project sites.
