Spherea UK has entered a growth phase and is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Systems Engineer who will contribute to our growth and use this amazing opportunity to broaden their knowledge and progress within the company.

Your Role:

This role requires an individual with a logical & analytical mind-set who is always keen to learn and who will enjoy working on a diverse range of engineering projects. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and result driven. Coaching and mentoring will be provided with the objective of developing the candidate to become autonomous in their day-to-day activities and to support their career aspirations.

The role is based in the office in Bournemouth, with occasional travel to customer sites.

Your Main Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be involved in designing modular test systems for use across a number of industries such as Defence, Aerospace and Space. You will also work closely with our customers to contribute to their overall test strategy.

This is a unique opportunity that will see you involved in projects covering all aspects of the full engineering lifecycle, including:

  • Definition of concept of operation and evaluation of the feasibility of the proposed solution
  • Requirements capture (both high-level and detail requirements), for both Systems and Sub-Systems
  • Definition and documentation of internal and external system interfaces
  • Design and development of the solution
  • Definition of test methods, including creation of test plans and procedures to support verification of the system and acceptance activities
  • Supporting production during the manufacturing phase
  • Carrying out integration, commissioning and validation of the system
  • Contributing to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement activities

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in one of the following: Electronics, Computer Science or Physics or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience, at least 2 years in Systems Design role
  • Strong knowledge of industrial sensor technologies; e.g. Thermocouples, RTDs, Pressure Transducers, Proximity Sensors
  • Experience of Hardware design and knowledge of Analogue & Digital electronics
  • Experience in using high speed technologies and COTS instruments
  • Ability to quickly process information and adopt an approach to solving problems
  • Where necessary, work with partners to build the solution
  • Good understanding of the full lifecycle of industrial engineering projects
  • Excellent communicator

Additional Skills or interests that would be advantageous:

  • High-level knowledge of software design and coding
  • Knowledge of digital buses; e.g. A429, RS232/422/485, CAN, Ethernet, AFDX, I2C, SPI.
  • Project Management
  • An understanding of other engineering domains; e.g. Control systems/Power/Electro-mechanic/Physics/Radio-comms
  • Security clearance at SC level or eligibility to obtain it
