Job Title: Systems Engineer (SIP Systems)

Location: Ealing Studios, London, UK – Remote

Salary: £62,000 – £67,500 per annum

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week)

Working Hours: 09:00 to 17:30 Monday to Friday

We are looking for a Systems Engineer (SIP) an enthusiastic individual who will be part of a team who provide technically skilled resources to deploy, maintain and monitor the performance of the business-critical systems provided by Syntec located in AWS and physical data centres across the globe.

Key Tasks:

  • Respond to tickets and communicate progress to key stakeholders
  • Provide out of hours support
  • Support end users by handling escalations from the customer services team
  • Monitor capacity of the technical staff and communicate availability of resources to key stakeholders (CTO, COO, PM and Sales Director)
  • Develop and implement operational policies/procedures
  • Develop consistent practices related to team/staff development and performance management; documenting best practices to be followed by the team to ensure team development
  • Identify change in the delivery of any project and ensure appropriate documentation is completed before any deviation from agreed scope
  • Maintain library of current system configuration and asset builds
  • Manage supplier relationships and procurement process for project delivery
  • Manage risk and issues arising from project delivery and infrastructure architecture and develop plans to eliminate or mitigate against those risks
  • Assist in the development of new product features in conjunction with the CTO and Development Team
  • Provide feedback on technical design and product roadmaps as part of pre-sales support
  • Ensure adherence with standard business practises for governance of the release of new systems or functionality including that they are deployed in accordance with PCI-DSS and related security requirements, tested, proactively monitored, and documented properly
  • Support internal clients from the development department and elsewhere in the business as required.

Responsibilities:

  • BAU Changes and management of Syntec SIP products.
  • Escalation of SIP issues from other sources
  • Participation in the On-call triage rota
  • On-call escalation for issues
  • Management of Physical, Virtual and AWS systems resources
  • Engineering new platforms as directed by the IT Operation Manager
  • Assisting builds for new Syntec customers
  • Learning new technologies as required by the job

Technical Skills and Desirables:

10 Years of demonstrable experience in:

  • Systems administration focusing on but not restricted to SIP products
  • System Engineering from inception to production
  • 3rd/4th line escalation experience.
  • Linux expertise (Any Debian or Redhat distro)

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Managed hosting or telecoms provider background
  • AWS management and manipulation of hosts
  • TDM equipment management
  • Team workflow management
