About the role:

City of Portsmouth College has been running successful Teams for over 25 years and have run over 135 teams to date. The Prince’s Trust Team is a 12 week programme that offers young people aged 16-25 years a nationally recognised qualification in personal development and employability. The course is offered at a range of levels between Entry 3 and Level 2 and is aimed at those that may be currently unemployed, lacking in qualifications or confidence.

You will be responsible for recruiting students in the local area that would benefit from this course. This could be from networking with local providers, the job centre or Portsmouth City Council. The team should consist of between 12-15 young people and six teams are run per year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver the programme in accordance with Prince’s Trust Toolkit
  • Recruit the 12 students on to the programme
  • Set programme objectives to meet both team and individual needs and deliver the expected learning outcomes.
  • Conduct regular meetings for evaluation, review and assessment with the whole team and on an individual basis.
  • Liaise with community organisations and agencies to plan, prepare and supervise appropriate team projects and individual placements for the team members.
  • Attend a five-day residential trip!

To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:

  • 2 years’ experience working with challenging behaviours, a volunteering role within girl guiding or scouts OR A degree in psychology, Sociology, Childhood and Youth Studies or social science
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to write reports and deliver presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience of planning, organising and completing practical projects.
  • Experience of managing a budget
  • Excellent leadership skills including the ability to motivate and develop the potential of young people in a challenging environment.
