L’Arche Ipswich provides outstanding care and support to people living in a ‘shared lives’ setting, across 3 houses in Ipswich, Suffolk.

It is a community of 30 people with and without learning disabilities, where people with learning disabilities can live independent, yet connected lives. The majority of Support Workers supporting these individuals live in the same community house. The Ipswich community is part of L’Arche UK which consists of 11 communities across England, Scotland and Wales. Each Community celebrates people with learning disability and fosters circles of support around them, focusing on building relationships and creating a culture of belonging.

Overseas candidates will NOT be considered for this role. We are not sponsoring Visa’s at this time, so please refrain from applying unless eligible to work in the UK.

The role:

We are looking for an experienced individual who can lead and motivate a small team of Support Workers to build a sense of community, encouraging each person in the house – with or without learning disabilities – to have a voice, share their views, have choice, and feel at home.

Preferably qualified to at least NVQ/QCF Level 3 in adult social care, together with demonstrable experience of caring for and supporting adults with learning disabilities, you will also have experience of supervising and leading Support Workers in a care setting.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Team Leaders are responsible for the smooth and safe running of their house including managing and creating the monthly rotas, updating and managing care plans, supporting and supervising Support Workers including inducting new team members, as well as overseeing reporting such as medication records and health and safety checks.

Working in collaboration with the Registered Care Manager, the Team Leader will ensure that we provide high quality, person-centred care and support; supporting practical, social and spiritual needs, leading the service delivery in the house in line with L’Arche’s values and standards, and the requirements of the Care Quality Commission [CQC].
