Job Title: Technical and Events Engineer

Location: Mansfield, Nottingham

Salary: £42,500 – £45,000 per annum pro rata (DOE)

Job Type: Permanent, full time (40 hours p/w)

About the role:

The Technical & Events Engineer will be responsible for the competent delivery of a wide range of services that NAPIT deliver to members & customers nationwide. The role will require a high level of technical knowledge & understanding of the electrical industry, alongside the ability to present content to a large audience. This will be a recognised and rewarding role, which will be seen at all times as front-facing and representing the values and reputation of the NAPIT brand. This may lead to representation in leading industry working groups & national technical committees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use your industry experience and knowledge to contribute towards NAPITs technical direction and input to how the electrical industry evolves over the coming years.
  • Contribute towards NAPITs technical bulletins and publications.
  • Take an active role in national apprentice skills competitions.
  • Have an understanding of renewable technologies.
  • Be technically up to date with all current industry Regulations.
  • Carry out scoping and needs analysis with partners & manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of all training material within the NAPIT technical department.
  • Visiting client sites, offices and training venues.
  • Present technical information to large audiences through multiple media outlets, such as webinars, blogs, videos and in person.
  • Assist in the development of business sales & marketing strategies.
  • Attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Qualifications or similar experience in BS 7671 and its implementation.
  • Prepared to represent NAPIT at BS 7671 committees and working groups.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Professional, articulate and confident.
  • Self-motivated with drive, tenacity and ambition.
  • Ability to make decisions and prioritise workload, working to tight deadlines.
  • Proactively demonstrate commercial awareness.
  • Install and maintain effective working relationships with other departments.
  • Ability to analyse & interpret information.
  • Able to adapt & work under pressure.
  • Relationship building with external companies.
  • Time management.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experienced in understanding trade shows & events.
  • Previous experience in front of stage / camera / microphone.
  • Proven experience & demonstratable track record in a similar position Prepared to contribute to NAPITs Competent Person magazine and other industry publications.
  • Prepared to work towards representing NAPIT and the wider electrical industry at Government Working Groups on electrical safety and national technical committee standards.
